{"id":7316,"date":"2020-01-10T13:34:23","date_gmt":"2020-01-10T12:34:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/?p=7316"},"modified":"2020-01-10T15:21:57","modified_gmt":"2020-01-10T14:21:57","slug":"misurare-lefficienza-dei-data-center-con-la-pue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/7316\/misurare-lefficienza-dei-data-center-con-la-pue\/","title":{"rendered":"Misurare l\u2019efficienza dei data center con la PUE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Al progressivo aumentare della quantit\u00e0 di dati raccolti con <strong>IoT e sensori<\/strong>, e della concomitante potenza di calcolo richiesta per l\u2019elaborazione con tecniche di <strong>AI e machine learning<\/strong>, il tema del <strong>consumo energetico dei data center<\/strong> si fa sempre pi\u00f9\u2026scottante.<\/p>\n<p>Scottante \u00e8 una parola quanto mai appropriata, date le ingenti quantit\u00e0 di calore prodotte da server e apparecchiature IT. Le <strong>applicazioni di <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/4495\/raffreddare-i-data-center-e-risparmiare-energia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raffreddamento dei data center<\/a><\/strong> sono pertanto al centro dell\u2019attenzione, ed esistono oggi dei criteri per calcolare l\u2019efficienza energetica di un data center. Questo interessante <a href=\"https:\/\/submer.com\/blog\/how-to-calculate-the-pue-of-a-data-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">articolo pubblicato da Matteo Mezzanotte di Submer<\/a> spiega nello specifico in cosa consiste il <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Power_usage_effectiveness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PUE<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>Power Usage Effectiveness<\/strong>, di un data center, introdotto dal consorzio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegreengrid.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Green Grid<\/strong><\/a> che lavora per incrementare l\u2019efficienza energetica dei data center al fine di ridurne l\u2019impatto ambientale.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/data-center-cooling.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/data-center-cooling-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"data center cooling\" width=\"528\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/data-center-cooling.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/data-center-cooling-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/data-center-cooling-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 528px) 100vw, 528px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Il PUE \u00e8 il rapporto tra la <strong>quantit\u00e0 totale di energia assorbita<\/strong> da un data center, compresa quella per i sistemi ausiliari quali condizionamento, illuminazione, perdite energetiche degli UPS (PT), e l\u2019<strong>energia di fatto utilizzata dalle apparecchiature IT<\/strong> (PIT). Green Grid ha quindi definito anche l\u2019inverso di questa misura, che \u00e8 il <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/definition\/29415\/data-center-infrastructure-efficiency-dcie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\"><strong>DCIE<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>Data center infrastructure efficiency<\/strong>, calcolato come rapporto tra l\u2019energia assorbita dagli equipaggiamenti IT e l\u2019energia complessiva consumata dal data center.<\/p>\n<p>Il valore PUE ideale di un data center dovrebbe quindi essere pari a 1, con la totalit\u00e0 dell\u2019energia assorbita dagli apparati IT. Secondo le valutazioni effettuate dal consorzio Green Grid, la media PUE dei data center nel mondo \u00e8 di circa 1,8, il che significa che i <strong>sistemi ausiliari assorbono circa il 45% della potenza complessiva<\/strong> consumata da un data center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/PUE-data-center-energy-efficiency.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7322\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/PUE-data-center-energy-efficiency-1024x476.jpg\" alt=\"PUE data center energy efficiency\" width=\"572\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/PUE-data-center-energy-efficiency-1024x476.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/PUE-data-center-energy-efficiency-300x139.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/PUE-data-center-energy-efficiency-768x357.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/PUE-data-center-energy-efficiency.jpg 1770w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 572px) 100vw, 572px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Submer ha creato anche uno <a href=\"https:\/\/submer.com\/smartpue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>SmartPUE<\/strong><\/a>, un pratico strumento per valutare l\u2019efficienza di un data center mediante il calcolo del suo attuale PUE. Riprendiamo a tale proposito il suggerimento che Submer avanza di introdurre tra i criteri di calcolo del PUE anche l\u2019<strong>adozione di sistemi di recupero di calore<\/strong>, cos\u00ec come di focalizzarsi sui vantaggi offerti da <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/6026\/il-ritorno-del-raffreddamento-a-fluido-nei-data-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>sistemi raffreddamento a immersione<\/strong><\/a> in fluidi dielettrici per la termoregolazione dei server. I sistemi di raffreddamento a liquido, come quelli realizzati da Tempco tramite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/soluzioni\/scambiatori-di-calore\/scambiatori-calore-immersione\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>scambiatori a immersione TCOIL<\/strong><\/a>, comportano infatti numerosi benefici rispetto ai sistemi di raffreddamento ad aria, a partire da <strong>consumo energetico molto ridotto<\/strong>, spazi di installazione pi\u00f9 contenuti e quindi la possibilit\u00e0 di <strong>aumentare la densit\u00e0 di calcolo<\/strong> del data center, incrementando l\u2019indice PUE.<\/p>\n<p>Il ricorso al <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/6628\/tcoil-e-free-cooling-nei-data-center-contro-il-riscaldamento-globale\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raffreddamento a immersione dei server<\/a> comporta inoltre tutta un\u2019altra serie di benefici, che vengono bene esplicati in questo altrettanto interessante <a href=\"https:\/\/submer.com\/blog\/not-so-obvious-benefits-of-immersion-cooling-in-your-data-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">articolo pubblicato sul blog Submer<\/a>. Aggiungiamo che il raffreddamento a immersione consente di <strong>impiegare fluidi a temperature meno basse<\/strong> rispetto alle soluzioni che impiegano il raffreddamento ad aria nei data center.
