Among the many applications of aluminium, one of the best known is its use for extruded parts in windows. Here, the exposition to <strong>external atmospheric agents<\/strong> can degrade the look of the material, damaging it over time.<\/p>\n<p>In order to make <strong>aluminium resistant to corrosion<\/strong>, the material thus undergoes a <strong>treatment in anodic oxidation baths<\/strong>, which generates a sort of chemical coating that makes it resistant to atmospheric agents corrosion. This is achieved using electro-chemical or electro-galvanic baths, where a direct current passes through. Thanks to an <strong>electrolytic process<\/strong>, a hard layer of anodic oxidation is deposited on the external surface of the aluminium.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LIZe0jZh_wA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen title=\"Il raffreddamento negli impianti di ossidazione anodica\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are different types of anodic oxidation processes, and the field of expertise in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.tempco.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Tempco<\/strong><\/a> is to ensure the <strong>cooling of these baths<\/strong>. Indeed, the direct current that passes through them generates heating, and the temperature of the baths must be <strong>maintained at a temperature of approximately 20-25\u00b0 C<\/strong>, depending on the kind of anodic oxidation process involved.<\/p>\n<p>The application is simple, but there is a problem: usually, these baths don\u2019t contain water, but a <strong>solution of sulphuric acid<\/strong>, in a low concentration of about 20%, depending on the type of anodic oxidation process. Cooling can then be achieved using <a href=\"https:\/\/en.tempco.it\/solutions-en\/chillers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>chillers<\/strong><\/a> or main water with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.tempco.it\/solutions-en\/heat-exchangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>heat exchangers<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But heat exchangers have to be <strong>manufactured using special materials<\/strong>, in order to ensure <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5616\/metals-and-fluids-avoiding-corrosion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resistance to corrosion<\/a> by sulphuric acid<\/strong>. Therefore, for the cooling of anodic oxidation baths we supply traditional plate heat exchangers using materials such as <strong>titanium<\/strong> or <strong>high alloy stainless steel<\/strong>. We also employe immersion <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.tempco.it\/solutions-en\/heat-exchangers\/dimple-jacket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TCOIL dimple jacket exchangers<\/a><\/strong>, still being manufactured using high alloy stainless steel.<\/p>\n<p>Cooling in anodic oxidation is also challenging on another prospect, which is the <strong>evaluation of the thermal duty<\/strong> of these exchangers.
