This is due to the peculiar manufacturing process involved, that gives <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5494\/brazed-plate-exchangers-water-safe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brazed plate heat exchangers<\/a> a high <strong>mechanical resistance<\/strong>: plates in this kind of exchangers are made of cold-pressed stainless steel, and during the assembly of the heat exchanger the plates are piled in top one of each other with <strong>cold-pressed foils of copper or nickel<\/strong> between them.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/6675\/how-does-a-plate-heat-exchanger-work-tempco-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plate heat exchangers<\/a> is then placed in a vacuum furnace where, at high melting temperatures respectively for the copper or nickel, the two metals melt, flowing for capillarity in the contact points welding them. All the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/6066\/heat-echangers-fuell-cells-clean-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brazed plate exchangers<\/a> are checked with <strong>hydraulic pressure test<\/strong>, ensuring there are no pressure drops and to eliminate the defective ones.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OAP3JVbKZuo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When is better to choose <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/4761\/brazed-plate-heat-exchangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">copper vs. nickel<\/a><\/strong>? The selection must consider two factors, the need to work with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5616\/metals-and-fluids-avoiding-corrosion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corrosive fluids<\/a><\/strong> and the <strong>pressure level<\/strong> involved in the application. Copper is indeed an excellent material, but it is not compatible with <strong>steam containing amine and ammonia<\/strong>, being corrosive on the metal and leading in a short time to leaks and pressure drops.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>copper<\/strong> brazed plate exchanger on the contrary can stand <strong>pressures up to 30 bar<\/strong> and more, while a <strong>nickel<\/strong> brazed exchanger offer lower working pressure limits, <strong>15 bar<\/strong> for a standard version and up to 25 bar for special versions.
