As I\u2019m explaining in the new video tutorial on our <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/c\/TempcoItalia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tempco YouTube channel<\/a><\/strong> (please turns on English subtitles), the only way it can happen is when a plate break occurs, due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5616\/metals-and-fluids-avoiding-corrosion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>corrosion<\/strong><\/a> of the plates\u2019 material or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5892\/diathermic-oil-life-span-in-thermoregulating-units\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cracking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Further cases are avoided by the <strong>intelligent design of the gaskets<\/strong> in a heat exchanger. Fluids cannot mix indeed due to the break of a gasket, because gaskets in plate heat exchangers always offer a double protection.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pokRI4gcSpA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/3249\/plates-cleaning-and-regasketing-time-for-heat-exchangers-maintenance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Gaskets of a plate heat exchanger<\/strong><\/a> offer protection all along the perimeter of a plate and also in the nozzle area, where the liquid flows from a plate to another. Here, there is a double gasket, and in addition it offers a sort of drain toward the outside, so that in case one part of the gasket breaks there will be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5482\/leakage-localization-in-plate-heat-exchangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leakage of liquid<\/a> on the external side of the heat exchanger, alerting that something\u2019s wrong is happening.
