There are still many aspects to be improved, such as the excessive <strong>weight of the battery pack<\/strong> and the <strong>insufficient recharge infrastructure<\/strong>, not developed enough to satisfy the power need of a large quantity of electric cars. In addition, if we try to imagine a future when everyone is plugging his electric car by night to the recharging station in his own home garage, there will be a serious problem to manage the <strong>high peak power demand<\/strong>. Here, <strong>IoT<\/strong>, <strong>connected cars<\/strong> and <strong>artificial intelligence<\/strong> will be strategic to develop new <strong>smart systems for the electrical grid management<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-powertrain.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-6922\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-powertrain-1024x617.jpg\" alt=\"electric powertrain\" width=\"536\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-powertrain-1024x617.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-powertrain-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-powertrain-768x463.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-powertrain.jpg 1134w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 536px) 100vw, 536px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition, the rate of <strong>energy coming from renewable sources<\/strong> is still so poor, amounting to 17,1% in Italy of total power generation. The target of a <strong>sustainable mobility and decarbonization<\/strong> would be unattended if the energy employed to satisfy the demand of a mass fleet of electric cars comes from traditional and not renewable power sources.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-engine-test-bench-development.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-6924 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-engine-test-bench-development.jpg\" alt=\"electric engine test bench\" width=\"276\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-engine-test-bench-development.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/electric-engine-test-bench-development-255x300.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/><\/a>Many leading automotive manufacturers in the meanwhile have already announced that they <strong>won\u2019t be producing endothermic vehicles anymore within the next 5-10 years<\/strong>, and within the next 2-3 years every automotive manufacturer is planning to have electric car models for each of its offering segments. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.tempco.it\/solutions-en\/thermo-regulating-units\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Thermoregulation<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.tempco.it\/solutions-en\/heat-exchangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>cooling<\/strong><\/a> applications for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5676\/test-bench-temperature-regulation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">automotive test bench<\/a> is an important application field also for <a href=\"https:\/\/en.tempco.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Tempco<\/strong><\/a>, so that the transition toward a new electric powertrain will involve the development of new concepts of <strong>innovative test bench for electric engines<\/strong>, as it\u2019s actually already happening.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the <strong>value chain of the battery pack industry<\/strong> is worth a mention. This industry involves a series of steps: European enterprises have the know-how to cover the production phase going from the battery pack to the control system, while there is a dangerous gap in skills and know-how on the first step, involving the <strong>processing of the activated mineral for the realization of cathode and anode<\/strong> and the production of <strong>electrodes and cells<\/strong>. This industrial sector is actually dominated by LG, Samsung and Sony, and by a few others eastern-Asia area manufacturers.
