That&#8217;s the topic I&#8217;m discussing in the new tutorial on our <a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/c\/TempcoItalia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Tempco Youtube channel<\/strong><\/a> (please turn on english subtitles). In the majority of cases, the answer is Yes, it is possible, but there are also some exceptions so that is always better to ask for it in advance.<\/p>\n<p>The request regards usually the possibility of <strong>reversing the direction of the flows<\/strong>, or to <strong>swap connections between the primary and secondary circuit<\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/6675\/how-does-a-plate-heat-exchanger-work-tempco-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Plate heat exchangers<\/a><\/strong> generally have symmetrical hydraulic circuits, so that\u2019s why it is usually possible to reverse the directions of the flows, that typically <strong>travel in countercurrent<\/strong> within the exchanger, and also to invert the connections between primary and secondary circuit. In both cases, the <strong>thermal transfer efficiency<\/strong> of the heat exchanger is not affected in a sensible way.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zV68FR71sCY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, is always better to ask in advance, because there are some <strong>applications with circuits that are not symmetrical<\/strong>, or with draining requirements. This is the case of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/6181\/shell-and-tube-heat-exchangers-special-execution-for-pharmaceutical-industries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>steam<\/strong><\/a>, which must always enters the heat exchanger from above, so that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/4349\/biogas-condensate-separator-or-tank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">condensation<\/a> can go to the bottom<\/strong> in order to be completely drained from the exchanger.
