{"id":5742,"date":"2016-11-05T11:00:01","date_gmt":"2016-11-05T10:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/?p=5742"},"modified":"2018-07-27T13:08:39","modified_gmt":"2018-07-27T11:08:39","slug":"anodic-oxidation-of-aluminium-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5742\/anodic-oxidation-of-aluminium-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Anodic oxidation of aluminium &#8211; 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aluminium is a metal used in increasingly disparate applications due to its lightness, resistance and aesthetic properties.<\/p>\n<p>It is subjected to various types of treatment according to the intended use, in order to make it more resistant to corrosion or to improve its mechanical characteristics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/iStock_49792512_SMALL.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5723\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/iStock_49792512_SMALL-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Profiles for exhibition designs.\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/iStock_49792512_SMALL-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/iStock_49792512_SMALL.jpg 848w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A typical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/en\/5744\/hard-anodic-oxidation-of-aluminium-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">treatment of aluminium is anodisation<\/a>, the purpose of which is to increase resistance to corrosion for use in aggressive environments and outdoors.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UIeE2i1pTn0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In practice, the parts in aluminium are submerged in a galvanic bath where the required \u201cstructural\u201d changes are carried out under controlled temperature and with the passage of current.<\/p>\n<p>The flow of electric current in the anodic oxidation bath, at low voltage but high intensity, causes an increase in temperature of the water solution (generally water + 20% sulphuric acid) which then has to be lowered to ensure successful completion of the process.<\/p>\n<p>The conventional solution for cooling anodic oxidation baths involves the use of special <a href=\"http:\/\/en.tempco.it\/solutions-en\/heat-exchangers\/gasketed-plate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plate exchangers<\/a> with plates and gaskets made of materials resistant to corrosion caused by the mixture in the same anodic bath.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the temperature remains constant at around 20\u00b0C, meaning that well water or <a href=\"http:\/\/en.tempco.it\/solutions-en\/chillers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chilled water<\/a> can be used as the main source of cooling.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/scambiatore-ossidazione-anodica.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5715\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/scambiatore-ossidazione-anodica-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"scambiatore-ossidazione-anodica\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/scambiatore-ossidazione-anodica-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/scambiatore-ossidazione-anodica-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.tempco.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/scambiatore-ossidazione-anodica.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aluminium is a metal used in increasingly disparate applications due to its lightness, resistance and aesthetic properties.
